I got this from my brother-in-law. It’s lightweight, easy to use and works with all the other RYOBI batteries which is clutch so I always have them ready to go.

How To Fix Your Ryobi String Trimmer

If your RYOBI String Trimmer (CAD$) just randomly stops working on you like mine did. It’s actually a pretty common problem and is relatively easy to fix.

All you need is:

a screwdriver (CAD$)

and something to strip the wires (CAD$).

But if you have

these extra electrical tools it makes it easier to do and the fix should last longer:

Precision Pick:    USD    CAD

Soldering Iron:    USD    CAD

Heat Shrink Tube:    USD    CAD

Heat Gun:     USD    CAD

Step 1: Disassemble The Bottom Part

Take the guard off, then separate the bottom piece to look at the motor.

Step 2: Reconnect Loose Wires

The issue is usually the white wire disconnects from the red wire. So you can reconnect them with whatever you have but this is what I did.

a. Take the wire nut off the red wire with pliers

b. Strip both the red and white wires

c. Slide heat shrink tubing onto the white side cause there’s more length there

d. Then x the red and white wires so you can twist and solder them

e. slide the shrink tube back and heat it to make a secure connection

Step 3: Test and put everything back

a. you can put a battery in to test if it works now (just be careful cause nothing is really securing the motor etc.

b. but i just put everything back cause i was pretty sure i already fixed it all
