Continuing with the minimalist/modern vibe for my bedroom makeover we took an Ikea Hack table to make up my daily office! I tried to keep it as modular as possible and usable for whatever daily driver you want to use, whether it be; a desktop PC, Macbook, laptop or even pen and paper! Note: I’m still on a budget and need better storage areas so let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions!
The Desk Setup
The idea was to make this room have a modern and minimalist vibe, but man is it difficult with the amount of stuff I have. I have probably already purged like 3 garbage bag full of things but since everything I’ve ever owned in my whole life is in this room there’s quite a bit to go through. I mean I could just dump it all but it is nice to re-see the projects I worked on as a kid and to see that my interests haven’t changed much. So it’s an interesting thing to figure out what I need to keep and what I need to throw out so all that sentimental stuff lol I’ve procrastinated to go through for the last part of my bedroom makeover which is why it’s probably taking so long. Nonetheless, I’m making those baby steps which is all that matters. Just keep moving.
The Office Requirements
- So the vibe is clean, minimalist and modern.
- It needs to be able to setup and clear quickly.
- Easy flow for laptop, desktop or pen and paper.
- Just need it to look nice lol
My Malm Headboard (Dark Brown) is the surface with 4 Chrome Godvin Legs all from Ikea
An Ikea staple. The Tertial Lamp silver unforntunately on an outdated base.
JACKYLED from Amazon.ca comes with a remote control and is blessed!!! 🙌
Rachel bought this for me. I think it was from HomeSense? But could also be from Chapters
Laptop Stand/Phone Holder/Mouse Mat:
Also from Amazon
Not from Amazon, but hung as decoration because I’m not sure what else we use it for.
Pretty much everything is from amazon lol
Current Storage Solution
That’s the Desk Setup!
So yea, I’m really happy with the way it all turned out but as for functionality it’s not all the way there yet. My tendencies were always to go with functionality first then make it pretty afterwards but becuase I’m not a natural designer that can make anything pretty I thought I’d give the opposite approach and focus on making things look good first and figure out how to make the functional later. And so far I feel like its been working out.
But please, if you have any recommendations for what I can do for storage let me know 🙂 I’m happy to hear whatever ideas you got! Catch you in the next one 😉
