My media keys mysteriously stopped working on my MacBook Pro and this hasn’t been the only time it’s happened. (For those of you that don’t know what I’m talking about its the F7, F8, F9 keys that have the play/pause button on them). I haven’t been able to control itunes or VLC but I’ve found the issue. Here’s how to fix it!

How To Fix your Play/Pause Button

So, I’m not sure about you but I love being able to control my music with my keyboard. I downloaded the Google Play Music extension and it was awesome. I could control all of my music from my keyboard for Google Play Music and while I was chrome casting. But several months later I popped open iTunes and felt lost. My iTunes wasn’t responding to my button presses and I slowly started freaking out. But thankfully to a quick Google Search. Turns out that Google Chrome (my favorite browser) ended up hijacking my keys, so here’s how to fix it:

Step 1: In Chrome click: The 3 Dots –> Settings –> Extensions

fix play/pause button: press the 3 dots then settings then extensions

or go to

Step 2: Click Menu –> Keyboard Shortcuts

Fix Play/Pause Button: Click Menu then keyboard shortcuts

Disable the Extension
